I’ve opened a couple of these kinds of blogs before, but nothing’s ever really stuck (maybe aside from Myspace when I was 18/19; but BOY was I opinionated back then). It’s sort of bounced around from either being highly personal, to being pontifical in a professional sense. Either way… it’s been… well not exactly as I have wanted my voice to come off as on my professional blogs when it comes to filmmaking.
If you’ve read the My Story part of this site, you’ll see where my passion lies. Filmmaking is a living, breathing thing to me, and there’s almost no time throughout the day that I’m not thinking about filmmaking in some fashion. It’s sick, honestly, and I find it sort of humorous how much it can get on people’s nerves; especially when dating someone. I’m like an opinionated robot machine, meandering about in the world thinking of all the ways I could make a film, or how one movie could be better and how, or whatever. When I think too much about it… it’s gross, and I get a headache.
I’m starting this as a general piece on filmmaking. My Tumblr page is mainly focused on my First Assistant Directing work, and working as a director, I don’t much like to talk about my experiences, lest I come off as too arrogant. In the end though, I just genuinely enjoy working in this industry. Nothing is more satisfying than getting up, meeting a bunch of new people in new places with a story to tell and experiences to share. No matter what the capacity is, set-life is probably the most fulfilling experience one could probably come across… and it is deeply, deeply addictive.
(I swear this was the most professional photo I could find)
I’m not quite sure where I want this blog to go, but at the very least, I want to share my experiences as a filmmaker with anyone who happens across my page. I find that giving insight, no matter how experienced or inexperienced one could be, is a great way of teaching to, and learning from others. I think of it like a sort of film school tool… you may not be able to get a full experience into the world of filmmaking, but you can certainly get a fun perspective into thoughts of other like-minded individuals.
If you happen to have any questions you’d like to throw at me, feel free to do so anytime and I will answer to them accordingly.
Thanks a ton, and I hope this turns out to be a lot of fun!
